A Chat with Ashley and Ryan from Main Cabin Masters

You may know them as two of the transformation team from Magnolia Network’s Maine Cabin Masters, but you’ll get to know them and hear their renovation stories at the OKC Home + Outdoor Living Show presented by Communication Federal Credit Union March 27-29. Ashley Morrill and her husband Ryan Eldridge will be on the Fresh Ideas Stage with Chase Morrill (Ashley’s brother) to share their show antics and answer your makeover and design questions.

Before you meet the team at the show, we got the chance to chat with Ashley and Ryan and ask them a few questions:

What do you enjoy most about the renovation process?

Ryan: I love the moment when they express gratitude and appreciation for what you have worked so hard on.

Ashley: I most enjoy finding pieces when I am cleaning out cabins to be renovated that I can restore or repurpose into something else.

What is one project you tell people to NOT do as DIY?

Ashley: As Cabin Masters, I don't think we would tell anybody not to do something as a DIY. If you have the proper tools and guidance, I think you can do just about all of it. Maybe I would suggest not doing insulation or spray foam. That's pretty yucky.

What’s been the most rewarding project you’ve worked on?

Ryan: I can’t pick one - we’re approaching 200 cabin projects, and so many of them have been rewarding in one way or another. It's always special to help non-profits, kids, and families that have had a rough go of things.

What’s the biggest challenge about working day-to-day with your family?

Ashley: The best thing is I get to work with my husband. Working with family can be hard at times but we all love each other so we can get over things really fast if there's an argument or disagreement. We get to travel together in the most beautiful locations that we would be vacationing in, so it's the best of both worlds, although sometimes you just want a little break from them! And they know you too well, so you can't get away with anything!

What’s the greatest joy in renovating homes and cabins for homeowners?

Ryan: I love the moment when they express gratitude and appreciation for what you have worked so hard on.
